Senator Mitch McConnell and others criticized the federal government’s practice of awarding federal highway contracts based on racial criteria. He stressed that he would ensure a vote on the portion of transportation reauthorization which requires not less than ten percent of the worth of federal contracts go to disadvantaged businesses.
