Amanda Little talked about her book Power Trip: From Oil Wells to Solar Cells - Our Ride to the Renewable Future (Harper; October 13, 2009). In her book she presents a history of fossil fuel use in America. The author reflects on her own ties to fossil fuels, from its pervasiveness in plastics and medicines to the powering of cars and homes. Ms. Little reports that the era of cheap fossil fuel is nearing an end and focuses on alternative energy options from the world’s largest wind farm to the Pentagon’s use of renewable energy. Amanda Little talked about researching the book and read passages as she discussed the importance of individual involvement in energy policy. She responded to questions from members of the audience at the Mulberry Street Branch of the New York Public Library in the evening of October 14, 2009.
