Panelists spoke about poverty in America and around the world, violence and civic disengagement amongst poor populations, and efforts by various groups to redress poverty. Among the issues they addressed were the impact of the current global financial crisis on the ability of groups to combat poverty, providing economic incentives for the poor, the role of education, and ways to facilitate social justice. Alice O’Connor moderated.
