The committee heard testimony from three professors with backgrounds in Middle East affairs on the best course for the U.S. to take towards the post-war Middle East situation. Of particular interest to the committee, as announced by the committee chairman, were the roles of Iran, Israel and Turkey in a post-war Middle East. Mr. Sprinzak evaluated the Israeli reaction to the Persian Gulf war, and recommended foreign policy options for the U.S. to use in regard with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Mr. Ramazani discussed the foreign policy of Iran and its implications upon U.S. foreign policy. Mr. Sayari gave similar remarks on the role of Turkey in the Persian Gulf war conflict. close
