The panelists, which included elected officials and journalists, talked about whether women have truly changed the face of American politics. They spoke about changes in the role and status of women in the Senate, the White House, and the media. This symposium was held in honor of the late Joy Dirksen Baker, the wife of former Senator Howard Baker (R-TN) and the daughter of the late Senator Everett Dirksen (R-IL). Joy Dirksen Baker died earlier this year. The panel was chaired by Cissy Baker, the daughter of Howard and Joy Baker. close
