Joe Mathews moderated a panel discussion on the role of journalism and the pressures of the entertainment industry. Among the topics they addressed were the coverage of political news and events as “infotainment,” presidential campaign coverage, media reporting false news from satire websites and aggregators, ways in which fictional films have created “truth,” blurring lines between celebrities and politicians, and lack of gatekeepers to draw clear lines between entertainment and news.
