The American Center for International Policy Studies hosted their 2005 Summer Symposium from July 31-August 11, 2005. The Symposium annually focuses on the current “hot topics” in International Relations. Students from all over the world and the United States visit the principal U.S. foreign policy decision-making bodies, think tanks, and important embassies to gain insight on the topics and explore the possible solutions to current crises.

Mr. Williams interviewed Mr. O’Hanlon about U.S. foreign policy priorities and defense strategy. Among the issues he addressed were goals in Iraq and Afghanistan, the continued use of the all-volunteer force in lieu of conscription, the variety of threats overseas in countries such as Korea, the performance of military personnel stationed overseas, and public opinion of foreign policy goals. Following the interview, Mr. O’Hanlon responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
