Former members of Bill Clinton's administration talked about successful economic policies during his presidency. Mr. Sperling said in trying to stay with the administration's goals of deficit reduction, globalization and innovation, officials pushed in the areas they knew they could, such as housing programs and the earned income tax credit. Other examples the panelists provided included trade agreements, and infrastructure and education investments.
