Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo gave her State of the Nation address before a Joint Session of Congress. President Arroyo was re-elected on May 10. She outlined her agenda for the next six years, which includes: jobs, education, youth opportunity and the budget. The president also talked about Angelo de la Cruz, a Filipino truck driver who was captured by Iraqi militants on July 7. Two weeks after his capture, President Arroyo ordered withdrawal of Filipino troops from Iraq. Angelo de la Cruz was then released by the Iraqi militants.
