Subcommittee members heard testimony concerning pfiesteria, a microbe which is responsible for fish-kills and human ailments along the mid-Atlantic coast. They heard testimony from government officials and environmental experts on the cause of the problem and how it can be addressed both by state and federal agencies in order to protect the health of those who live and vacation in the region.
