Veterans and their families gathered at the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. The Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral James Winnefeld, gave the keynote address and lead the delegation in the presentation of wreaths at the Freedom Wall, where the 4,000 stars commemorate the more than 400,000 Americans who gave their lives in WWII. 2012 marked 71 years since the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, bringing the United States into World War II. close
