Witnesses testified at a food safety hearing on the recent salmonella outbreak associated with peanut butter and other peanut products manufactured by the Peanut Corporation of America. Stewart Parnell, president of Peanut Corporation, and Sammy Lightsey, manager of the company’s Georgia plant, invoked their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination and refused to answer questions about company practices and safety inspections of their products.
