Leon Panetta gave the fifth annual Dean Acheson lecture at the U.S. Institute of Peace. In his remarks he said the military planed to deploy Army units to build international partnerships and to strengthen security capabilities with nations around the world. He talked about a new defense strategy that focused on placing a greater emphasis on building capability of other nations to help meet security challenges in the future. He also spoke about the need for the Defense Department to invest in future capabilities, such as cyber security, unmanned systems, and space. close
