Historians talked about the past, present, and future work of the State Department’s Office of the Historian, the Foreign Relations of the United States (FRUS) series, and the internal declassification struggle.

Compiled and published by the State Department, the FRUS was started in 1861 and has surpassed the 450-volume mark. Each volume contains all the declassified, crucial documents relating to a certain topic within a certain period, including documents from the Central Intelligence Agency, Department of Defense, U.S. Agency for International Development, National Security Council, and other departments and agencies that play a role in U.S. foreign relations. This event was hosted by the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, D.C. close
