William Hague, the Conservative Party’s Shadow Foreign Secretary since December 2005, laid out the Conservative Party’s foreign policy goals. He called for a thorough review of defense spending, and less reliance on economic sanctions, which he said are losing their potency, saying that Britain must accept a less interventionist role in the world due to budget pressures. He responded to questions from members of the audience.
