David Mathews, President, Kettering Foundation, discussed the results of a report from the Kettering Foundation entitled, Citizens and Politics: A View From Main Street America. The report said the average citizen is alienated from the political system and feels frustrated by its inability to effect change in the inefficiency of government. The report contradicts reports of apathy among the U.S. citizenry but says a more fundamental sense that the individual makes no difference in our country has taken hold among the populace. close
