The sixth panel of the first meeting of President Bill Clinton’s Task Force on National Health Care Reform convened at George Washington University in Washington D.C. The task force heard testimony from a panel of insurance industry representatives on health care reform proposals intended to hold down the costs of health insurance on businesses and individuals. The industry representatives discussed the insurance industry’s current policy of basing health insurance rates on pre-existing conditions in the policy holder, and other issues involved in health insurance coverage. Vice President Al Gore, though not a member of the panel, chaired the meeting in the absence of First Lady Hillary Clinton. close
