David Owens discussed the U.S. power grid and its reliability as well as general domestic infrastructure. The mass blackout in India has sparked greater concern over the reliability of the U.S. power grid, especially after the East Coast lost power for several days in sweltering temperatures. He said that it was unlikely the U.S. power grid would have problems like India’s grid did, it is far superior and better supervised. However, he stated we should not wait to upgrade our technology and should keep up with the newest power advancements. Viewer questions were taken via telephone and electronic devices. C-SPAN Radio’s Nancy Calo read news headlines at the end of the program. close
