Witnesses testified about a salmonella outbreat kinked to peanut products purchased from the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). In this second hearing on the outbreak and subsequent product recall, a retailer, manufacturer and distributor who all sold peanut products tainted by salmonella focused on safety inspections, audits, and what was known about the tainted products at the time of sale. David Mackay called for the creation of a new food safety authority in the Department of Health and Human Services to focus on prevention of problems. close
