At this meeting of the United Nations Security Council ambassadors from Iraq and other Persian Gulf countries spoke about a proposed resolution to strengthen previous resolutions on weapons inspections in Iraq and enforcement of non-compliance by Iraqi authorities. The resolution was being considered after U.S. threats to use force if Iraq did not comply with U.N. demands. Iraqi Ambassador to the U.N Mohammed Aldouri rejected calls for the new resolution, denied that Iraq was developing weapons of mass destruction, and called current economic sanctions an act of genocide. close
