President Clinton and Vice President Gore greeted visitors to the White House in the Diplomatic Reception room. The visitors had been selected randomly from thousands of Americans who had sent in postcards to be among the first to visit the Clinton White House. The president and vice president, later joined by their wives, shook hands with supporters and exchanged greetings with visitors of all ages from all over the country.
