Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) came to the Senate floor to express his disgust with the cloture vote blocking the nomination of Debo Adegbile to be the assistant attorney general for civil rights in the Justice Department. He called “shame on us,” especially the lawyers, for blocking the nomination on the basis of a young lawyer having worked for a firm that asked him to prepare the appeal for a murderer. He even mentioned that Chief Justice John Roberts defended a murderer as a young lawyer. close
