Robert Bremner spoke about his book Chairman of the Fed: William McChesney Martin Jr. and The Creation of The Modern American Financial System, published by Yale University Press. Mr. Bremner tells the story of William Martin, who currently holds the record as the longest serving chairman of the Federal Reserve, and Mr. Martin’s relationship with several U.S. presidents ranging from Harry Truman to Lyndon Johnson. Mr. Bremner also discusses the transformation of the Federal Reserve system that occurred under Martin’s chairmanship. Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
