The subcommittee met to discuss the destabilizing influence the acquisition of nuclear weapons by North Korea had on relations between North and South Korea. They also discussed the prospects for reunification in Korea and the possibility of changes in U.S. policy towards North Korea. The subcommittee met on the 37th anniversary of the armistice in the Korean War.
