In the third day of hearings on the nomination of Senator Ashcroft to be attorney general, proponents and opponents of the nomination testified about his voting record, ideology and ability to carry out the duties of the office. 

Judge White testified that Senator Ashcroft had willfully distorted his record as a Missouri judge during Senate debate over his appointment to the federal judiciary, saying the senator’s remarks were unwarranted and had damaged his reputation.

In other panels, colleagues and acquaintances talked about Senator Ashcroft’s record as Missouri governor and attorney general, his views on social issues such as abortion, and his integrity.
