Last week the presidents of the International Republican Institute and the National Democratic Institute, Lorne Craner and Ken Wollack respectively, released a report entitled “New Directions for Democracy Promotion.” Both authors talked about their report that includes 8 recommendations for the next administration to make promoting democracy as a central pillar in the conduct of U.S. foreign policy. They also discussed their respective organizations, their mission, size, funding, and how they cooperate with each other promoting democratic processes and ideals around the globe, and they responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. close
