The New Anti-Semitism

Mr. Wallace and Ms. Chesler discussed anti-Semitism and talked about their books. Mr. Wallace is the author of The American Axis: Henry Ford, Charles Lindbergh, and the Rise of the Third Reich, published by St. Martin’s Press. In the book, he asserts that well-known Americans, including Ford and Lindbergh, were dedicated anti-Semites who worked to spread Nazi ideology in America during the 1930s and 1940s. Ms. Chesler wrote The New Anti-Semitism: The Current Crisis and What We Must Do About It, published by Jossey-Bass. In the book, she examined evidence that anti-Semitism is currently on the rise around the world, and proposed remedies. The authors also commented on other issues, including Mel Gibson’s movie The Passion of The Christ, U.S. policy toward Israel, and the war on terrorism. Following prepared remarks, they responded to questions from members of the audience. Ms. Bond moderated the event. close
