Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a joint meeting of Congress. In his remarks he outlined his vision of a settlement with the Palestinians, saying he was prepared to accept a "far-reaching compromise," but any agreement must recognize the "vast demographic changes" that have taken place since 1967. He also called on Palestinians to see a future "homeland," rather than Israel, as the place to settle refugees from the 1948 war that founded the Jewish state. At one point in the speech he was interrupted by a heckler in the House Visitors Gallery.
