Witnesses testified about the U.S. Navy’s plans for future ship building and development of guided missile destroyers. Among the topics addressed were the capabilities of the Arleigh Burke (DDG-51) class destroyers currently used by the Navy, technology designed for a new DDG-1000 class, and recent studies indicating possible flaws in threat defenses for he new class of destroyers. They aslo talked about estimated costs involved with building new DDG-1000 class and potential use of new technology for upgrades on older destroyers. close
