In the town hall session a panel discussion was held on challenges facing U.S. business to secure America’s position as a competitive economy in the 21st century and beyond. Topics included education, immigration, and health care.

The panel members were Carlos Gutierrez, Secretary of Commerce;

Craig Barrett, Chairman, Intel; Richard Daley, Mayor of Chicago, Illinois;

William Daley, Vice Chairman, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.; and Jim Owens, Chairman and CEO, Caterpillar.

Then, Secretary Carlos Gutierrez made closing remarks for his 2008 National Summit on American Competitiveness at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago. close
