President Obama hosted the White House Tribal Nations Conference. The conference included leaders from the 564 federally recognized tribes. Justice Department and other officials spoke about cooperation between federal and tribal law enforcement agencies, improving housing and development on reservations, reducing the levels of violence in American Indian communities, and issues of tribal sovereignty. They also responded to questions from the audience.
