Prior to his career in the United States Senate, Daniel Patrick Moynihan (1927-2003) worked in four presidential administrations. He served in the Nixon administration from 1969-71 as an adviser on urban affairs. His legacy has received renewed attention following the release of his papers by the National Archives. Four members of Daniel Moynihan's White House staff discussed his relations with President Nixon and their collaborations on welfare reform, education policy, and other issues. The session was moderated by Mr. Weisman, editor of Daniel Patrick Moynihan: A Portrait in Letters of an American Visionary. The panelists also responded to questions from members of the audience.

This event at the American Enterprise Institute was sponsored by the Richard Nixon Foundation and the Nixon Presidential Library and Museum. This Nixon Legacy Forum was the tenth in a series of Nixon Legacy events planned throughout 2010 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nixon opening his library in Yorba Linda.
