Drexel University Professors Robert Field and Barry Furrow talked about Mr. Field’s book, Mother of Invention: How the Government Created ‘Free-Market’ Health Care, in which he chronicles the history of government involvement in the U.S. health care system. The professors argued that four key sectors of the U.S. healthcare industry, pharmaceuticals, hospitals, the medical profession, and private insurance, were built up by the federal government and that this history must be understood before the possibilities of meaningful reform can be realized. They also responded to questions from students in the audience. This event was hosted by Drexel University School of Law in Philadelphia. close
