Ms. Henig talked about her book [The Monk in the Garden: The Lost and Found Genius of
Gregor Mendel, the Father of Genetics], published by Houghton Mifflin. The book describes
how Mendel’s experiments with pea plants, conducted in the mid-nineteenth century,
uncovered some of the basic principles of heredity. Following her presentation, she took
questions from the audience.
