Ms. Ivins, political columnist for the Dallas Times Herald and former
journalist with The New York Times, the Minneapolis Tribune and the
Texas Observer, talked about politics in Texas and her career in
journalism. She related some of the popular myths about
Texas, and described some of the factors influencing politics in
Texas, including oil and the “personality” of politicians in the
state.
