Michael Ledeen, an expert on Italy and the author of books on 20th century Italian politics, spoke on “Machiavelli for Moderns.” He discussed the continuing popularity of the principles of conduct written by author and politician Niccolo Machiavelli (1469-1527). He read from Machiavelli’s writings, analyzed them and drew modern comparisons. After his prepared remarks, he took questions from the audience. close
