The Intercultural Cancer Council’s 10th Biennial Symposium on Minorities, the Medically Underserved and Cancer opened with the release of a report on reducing disparities in cancer survivorship. The participants said that the study found that ethnic minorities and the poor are the least likely to remain cancer-free and have reduced survivorship as poverty, lack of insurance, and racism prevent the medically underserved from receiving timely diagnosis, quality care, post-treatment screenings, and follow-up care. After their presentations, the participants answered audience members' questions.

Chair-elect Brown is Cancer Prevention and Control Director of the Randolph Cancer Center (WV). close
