Candidates debated one another in a Minneapolis theater. Among the topics they addressed were the economy, their relative experience, health care, and the best person to represent Minnesota in the Senate. The debate took place the day before election day and was the only debate in which Mr. Mondale, who replaced the late Paul Wellstone as the Democratic candidate, just days before the election. close
