The opening speakers on the second day of the conference spoke about leadership in the military. General Palmer talked about strength of character. A military historian, he was formerly superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a two-tour veteran of Vietnam. Celia Sandys, a grandchild of Winston Churchill, wrote the book, Chasing Churchill: The Travels of Winston Churchill. She talked about Winston Churchill and his leadership in World War II and showed video clips. General Palmer responded to audience members' questions.

The ninth annual conference of the World War II Veterans Committee for the first time expanded to include the Vietnam War under the new umbrella organization, the American Veterans Center. close
