Ayesha Siddiqa talked about her book Military Inc.: Inside Pakistan’s Military Economy, published by Pluto Press. Her book details the “internal economy” of Pakistan’s military. The military holds private assets and business interests in Pakistan ranging from construction firms to breakfast cereal that comprise a major segment of the economy. She emphasized that this situation is not unique to Pakistan. Ms. Siddiqa responded to questions from members of the audience.
