Trevor Jones talked about the Kentucky Military History Museum. The museum is housed in the Gothic Revival-style Old State Arsenal building constructed in 1850 on Arsenal Hill near downtown Frankfort. The building served as a warehouse for military equipment and munitions for the Frankfort militia. During the Civil War it housed a cartridge factory, employing many women, and became a point of defense for the capitol. The building was undergoing extensive preservation efforts. Mr. Jones showed some of the items in storage at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) on their “2011 LCV Cities Tour” were in Frankfort, Kentucky, on March 28-31 and August 1-3, 2011, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Frankfort Plant Board local cable affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. close
