Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Deputy Food Commissioner Michael Taylor spoke at the Consumer Federation of America food policy conference. In response to criticisms that the Obama administration has been slow to release new rules intended to make the FDA more proactive in preventing food safety problems, he said the agency is out to give the public the “best bang for the buck.”
