“The Sea of Mud: The History and Archeology of the Mexican Army after San Jacinto” was a program of the second annual Texas State General Land Office Save Texas History Symposium. The 2011 symposium, titled “The Texas Revolution at 175: 'Onward was the Cry!'” focused on the 175th anniversary of the Texas Revolution. Gregg Dimmick spoke on the archeological record of the Mexican retreat across Texas from San Jacinto. The Texas Revolution was an armed conflict fought from October 1835 to April 1836 between Mexico and U.S. settlers in the territory of Texas. He used slides during his presentation and then responded to questions from members of the audience.
