A town hall meeting was held on the war in Iraq. Representative Murtha talked about his decision in December 2005 to oppose the Iraq War and call for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. He addressed reports that the Department of Defense blamed him for low military recruitment levels. He said that General Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told him on January 4, 2006, that they "can't win this." Representatives Moran and Murtha also spoke about the possibility of withdrawing troops to unspecified countries nearby, including Kuwait. They also responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.
