The Freedom Forum convened a seminar on coverage of the 1992 election campaign. The popularity of undeclared independent presidential candidate Ross Perot and the increasing use of television as a forum for candidates to reach out to voters caused the panel of journalists to consider how campaigning has changed and how media coverage of the campaign and candidates has been affected. Participants also examined issues such as congressional turnover, the rise of candidates who are women, and the use of public opinion polls. close
