Secretary Rumsfeld talked about the challenges, difficulties, and new realities faced by the Department of Defense in the age of instant communications. He said the U.S. has not adapted to fighting the media war in today’s world in ways terrorist organizations have, including electronic mail, digital cameras, ‘blogs', and 24-hour newscasts. He asked what a U.S. information agency in the 21st century should look like. After his remarks, Secretary Rumsfeld answered audience members’ questions. close
