Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), co-sponsor of the Free Flow of Information Act, talked about the proposed national shield law that would protect journalists from prosecution for protecting their sources. He was interviewed by Bill Keller. Then a panel discussion was held by journalists and attornies about state media shield laws.

“Prospects for a Federal Shield Law” was a panel of “Sources and Secrets: A Conference on the Press, the Government and National Security,” held at The TimesCenter and presented by the George Polk Awards and The New York Times in cooperation with CUNY TV, the Media Law Resource Center, and the Media Law Resource Center Institute. close
