Children of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan were honored with the Gold Medal of Remembrance. The medal was created by a special White House commission. Following the Presentation of the Colors, National Anthem, and invocation, Secretary Mansfield, members of Congress and others spoke in praise of fallen heroes. Captain Perry served as master of ceremonies.

The children who received medals were Cali Baldwin, daughter of Senior Chief Builder Joel E. Baldwin, U.S. Navy; Helena and Rachel Edge, daughters of Captain James C. Edge, U.S. Marine Corps; and Kelsi and Evan Lamberson, children of Sergeant First Class, Randall L. Lamberson, U.S. Army. close
