In this panel, members of the Black Political Scientist Association present a series of papers and lectures on the effectiveness of the Afro-American lobby. It is argued that this lobby has become more effective over the years. To illustrate this point, two cases are used: black voting rights, and South African sanctions. With regard to voting rights, it is argued that the civil rights coalition, led by blacks, has developed into a mature lobbying organization since its inception in the 1950s. close
