Committee members heard testimony from elementary education experts on increasing U.S. student interest in math and science. Witnesses testified about the use of creative methods as well as the need for better teachers by a greater commitment of resources to education. They also examined why interest in science is lost by many students as they get older. This hearing was held in response to U.S. student performance on the Third International Math and Science Study. close
